My Research
Session 5: Cytomegalovirus (CMV) management in allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation
 - member only content
(15 September 2021)

Session delivered by Julian Lindsay (BPharm, MClinPharm, PhD candidate), a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Pharmacist at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, and a research fellow and PhD candidate at the National Center for Infection in Cancer (NCIC) at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne.

Session chaired by Nick Duncan, an Academic Practitioner in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Birmingham and Consultant Haematology Pharmacist at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, UK

The My Research sessions are a collaboration between the COSA CPG and BOPA. The sessions are delivered by BOPA members that have undertaken an audit or evaluation. They describe their career pathway and then discuss the research methods that they used. There is time for detailed questions following the talk. The sessions enable members to learn about quantitative and qualitative methods, and this learning may guide and help participants and viewers in their future projects. They are a good opportunity to learn about different career pathways in cancer pharmacy.

CPG Foundation Course - Online - 5 & 12 June 2021

The COSA Cancer Pharmacists Group (CPG) hosted their 13th Foundation Clinical Practice Course online over two consecutive Saturdays on 5 and 12 June 2021.

The course is designed to assist pharmacists new to cancer management to develop clinical skills in cancer pharmacy practice. We combine informative lectures, interactive workshops and panel discussions to assist in the development of skills and abilities in the many processes involved in providing cancer treatment to our patients, with focus on the management of key tumours.

This course is delivered ‘by cancer pharmacists, for cancer pharmacists’ with speakers who are experienced cancer pharmacists and members of the CPG. These pharmacists work in a variety of settings across Australia at a multidisciplinary level, and are invited to lead the course, not only for their vast knowledge and experience, but also their skills and ability at teaching and running workshops.

CPG Advanced Course - TBC

Due to the evolving global medical crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and its current escalation in Australia, the COSA CPG Committee decided to place the 2020 COSA CPG Advanced Clinical Practice Course that was due to take place in Melbourne on the 12–13 September 2020 on-hold. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed of any changes. General information and updates will be placed on the conference website.

The COSA CPG recognises there are limited continuing educational opportunities for pharmacists who have a solid foundation in cancer. To help experienced cancer pharmacists further develop their knowledge and skills, the CPG offer our Advanced Practice weekend seminar. This seminar is designed for those pharmacists who have broad experience in cancer services with a good base knowledge of cancer therapeutics.
