- GROUP Survivorship
- PROJECT SPAN 2021
- DATE 31/03/2021
Background
COSA’s Survivorship Policy and Implementation Working Group (Chair, Carolyn Mazariego) has been established to advance cancer survivorship policy and practice within the context of priority projects identified by the COSA Survivorship Group that are aimed at improving the outcomes for all Australians affected by cancer.
Details of this project
This Working Group expands on the priorities outlined in the Survivorship Group's submissions to Cancer Australia in the development of the Australian Cancer Plan (ACP). Our goal is to actively inform survivorship-related policy and implement survivorship-related actions within the ACP. The Working Group will initially focus on two major projects:
- ACP Survivorship Mapping: Comprehensive mapping of the ACP to identify key objectives related to cancer survivorship. This process also involves brainstorming strategies to support and facilitate the delivery of these objectives, with the aim of making meaningful contributions to the survivorship landscape in Australia.
- Survivorship Model of Care Update: COSA's Survivorship Model of Care was established nearly 10-years ago. There is a clear need to update this model of care to reflect contemporary survivorship care models, ensuring it adheres to current best practices and aligns with the latest ACP goals and recommendations for survivorship. This includes incorporating target populations, such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and those affected by Advanced or Metastatic Cancer.
The COSA Model of Survivorship Care is under review. Any members who want to contribute to the update should contact [email protected]
