Right care, right place: Digital delivered evidence-based nutrition and exercise support for men with prostate cancer

Dr Brenton Baguley PhD, APD, BHlthSci (Nut), MDietSt

Dr Brenton Baguley is a Victorian Cancer Agency Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition, Deakin University, and a member of the COSA Nutrition Group Executive Committee. His consumer-led research focuses on improving the health, wellbeing and survivorship of adults with cancer through innovative models of care that promote equitable access to nutrition and exercise services.

Malnutrition and Body Composition in Ovarian Cancer

Sarah Benna-Doyle MHumNut, BHSc

Sarah Benna-Doyle is in the final year of her PhD at the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition, Deakin University investigating nutritional status and body composition in women with ovarian cancer. Her research examines body composition phenotypes and their influence on treatment outcomes and investigates awareness of malnutrition risk and access to nutrition care during treatment. Sarah also works as a research assistant in cancer supportive care at Western Sydney University.

Supplemental Jejunal Feeding to Improve Quality of Life

Kate Connell, MNutrDiet, BAppSc(HealthProm) and Emma McShane, MNutrDiet, BFoodSc

Kate Connell is a clinical dietitian who has led a range of quality projects looking at malnutrition in the hospital setting. She will soon commence her PhD with the SuperQoL team aiming to better understand the nutrition impact symptoms associated with advanced pancreatic cancer and its treatment.

Emma McShane is a clinical dietitian at Alfred Health. She is a current PhD student with the SuperQoL Study is investigating the better management of nutrition impact symptoms to improve the quality of life and nutrition status of patients living with cancer.

Prebiotic fibre supplementation during haematological cancer treatment

Dr Sarah Andersen PhD, Adv APD

Sarah Andersen is an advanced dietitian in Cancer Care at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and a Metro North Clinician Research Fellow. Her PhD was on nutrition support during allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Sarah's research has focused on enteral versus parenteral nutrition, the influence of prebiotics and nutrition support on the gastrointestinal microbiome, and changes in body composition and energy expenditure during cancer treatment.
