Fear of Cancer Recurrence
COSA was proud to partner with the Australian Cancer Survivorship Centre, Cancer Council and the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia to present this free webinar for nurses and allied health professionals on fear of cancer recurrence.

Learning objectives from this interactive webinar included:
- Understanding the prevalence of fear of cancer recurrence and cancer progression
- Recognising the effect of fear of cancer recurrence and progression on cancer survivors, their family members, and cancer services
- Understanding some of the risk factors for more severe fear of cancer recurrence
- Being aware of the evidence-based interventions available to support management of fear of cancer recurrence at different levels
- Feeling confident to identify fear of cancer recurrence and raise the topic with cancer survivors
- Feeling confident to provide some basic strategies to assist people manage fear of cancer recurrence
- Understanding where to refer and resources to provide to support best practice in managing fear of cancer recurrence

Speakers:
Emeritus Professor Phyllis Butow AM is a professor and NHMRC Senior Principal Research Fellow in the School of Psychology at the University of Sydney.
Dr Ben Smith is a Cancer Institute NSW Career Development Fellow at UNSW Sydney.
Dr Jia (Jenny) Liu is a medical oncology staff specialist at The Kinghorn Cancer Centre, St Vincent's Hospital (Darlinghurst, Sydney Australia) specialising in head and neck cancer and early phase clinical trials.
Professor Louise Sharpe is a clinical psychologist by training ans is currently a Professor of Clinical Psychology and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Researcher Training) in the Deputy Vice Chancellor Research’s portfolio at the University of Sydney.
Kate Barber is the Team Lead for the Nurse Counselling Service at Cancer Council Victoria.
