Treatment: Boost for children’s cancer

10 Jan 2022 - Treatment

The federal government has invested more than $1.5m into clinical trials to treat children diagnosed with rare cancers. The funding will support researchers at the University of NSW to trial combination precision-guided therapies for high-risk childhood cancers, based on the individual tumour profile of each child. Project lead, Professor David Ziegler said, “The program is opening to every child with cancer, for those where standard treatment has failed. It will allow them to access cutting-edge new targeted therapies”. The project is one of 27 projects funded by the 2021 Rare Cancers, Rare Diseases and Unmet Need grant opportunity.
