Children aged five to 11 are now eligible for the paediatric COVID-19 vaccine, an important step for children who are immunocompromised, including those undergoing chemotherapy. Professor Robert Booy, an infectious diseases physician at the University of Sydney, said it was extremely important children with major underlying health conditions, including those who had received cancer treatment, are vaccinated against COVID-19. He said that doctors would determine the best time for them to receive their vaccinations, as sometimes it was preferable to delay vaccination in a seriously ill person until a treatment is completed.
