A Sydney mother-of-two with terminal breast cancer has amassed more than 22,000 signatures on her petition to get better access to genomic screening and cutting edge oncology drugs. Alison Day shared her story two weeks ago, calling for fully funded molecular testing for all rare and stage four cancers after she was forced to pay $10,000 for genomic testing. Such testing allows for better matching of personalised medicines which show better survival rates. Ms Day discovered through her genomic testing that a drug called Troldelvy would slow her cancer and buy time. It is not approved in Australia but is approved in the US.
