Occupational and Environmental: New former ABC base

The controversial former ABC headquarters in Brisbane’s inner west has been sold with the waterfront site earmarked for a “premium residential community”. Consolidated Properties Group paid $43.5m for the 1.5ha site at 600 Coronation Drive, Toowong, in a deal struck by Colliers International’s Adam Rubie and Brendan Hogan on behalf of ASX-listed Sunland. The ABC abandoned the property in 2006 because of fears over a cancer cluster and it was bought by Sunland in 2013 for $20.8m. However, plans by Sunland for high-rise apartments were stalled after fierce opposition from residents and they finally put the site on the market last year. The remediated site allows for a riverfront precinct which could accommodate up to three towers.
