Supportive care: Cap parking for cancer patients

The WA Government has been urged to cap hospital parking at $5 a day for cancer patients and their carers. Cancer Council WA says the move would reduce the financial burden faced by the 33 West Australians diagnosed with cancer every day. CCWA chief executive Ashley Reid said costs, such as parking fees, were often raised with the charity. “If you go to the hospital once a year, you might be a bit annoyed at being stung 20 bucks a day for parking,” he said. “But if you have to go dozens of times, because you’re going through chemotherapy or radiotherapy, it can be a huge burden.”
