The head of the Greater Sydney Commission wants to see the city transformed into three leading global precincts with at least three universities in each area and the ability to attract global brands. Speaking at the Sydney Summit, a conference on the post COVID-19 future of the city, Chief Commissioner Geoff Roberts said each of the planned cities should be known for its own innovative strength, with Sydney positioning itself as a magnet for talent in the Asia-Pacific. The ‘‘three cities’’ vision separates Greater Sydney into the western parkland city, the central river city and the eastern harbour city. It will benefit technology, cyber security and quantum computing, investment in the future for kids’ cancer, and areas of advanced manufacturing.
