Tobacco: Vaping lights up smokers

Youngsters who vape are three times more likely to become regular cigarette smokers. Researchers studied children and young adults and found vaping was a gateway to smoking as it causes a nicotine addiction. E-cigarettes deliver nicotine in vaporised liquid. The University of California, San Diego, studied 12 to 24-year olds over four years and found that among those who reported vaping in their first interview, their risk of daily smoking increased from 3 to 10 per cent four years later. Professor John P Pierce said: “The start product changed from cigarettes to e-cigarettes but the end product has stayed the same.”
