HOTT Fellowship

Call for applications will occur in 2008 – 2 fellowships will be available.
Roche Oncology & Haematology in conjunction with COSA, MOGA and HSANZ is delighted to announce that two new HOTT Fellowship Awards of $50,000AUD each will be available in the first quarter of 2009.
Haematology & Oncology Targeted Therapies (HOTT) awards
Each of the two awards is designed to fund, or part-fund a one-year position, and is intended to assist in the conduct of high quality clinical or translational research, or other project initiatives which will be of benefit to the clinical oncology or haematology community within Australia.
In addition to the $50,000 awards, support in-kind may also be available from Roche as required and agreed.
One award will be offered to an individual working in the field of medical oncology, the other will be offered to an individual working in the field of malignant haematology.
Eligibility
The awards will be offered to fund projects to be undertaken over a one-year period. Research or project outcomes should be available at the end of this one-year period.
The awards will be available to individuals undertaking advanced training in medical oncology or haematology, or to more senior oncologists or haematologists with limited research experience.
The research topic may be in any aspect of medical oncology or malignant haematology. Non-research projects must be of wide ranging benefit to the oncology or haematology community of Australia.
Applicants will be members of either COSA, MOGA or HSANZ.
The research or projects will be conducted within Australia.
Applications
The closing date for applications is 7 July 2008.
All applicants must submit:
- the HOTT Fellowship application form (Word doc, 221KB), along with the requested attachments specified on the form;
- a copy of the applicant’s CV, up to six pages in length; and
- a letter of support from the applicant’s department head or institutional head specifying the mentoring, support and facilities that will be available from the institution.
All applications will be assessed by a panel of experts including representatives of COSA, MOGA and HSANZ.
The successful candidates will be notified within six weeks of the closing date.

Sally Birch Fellowship in Cancer Control
Cancer Council Australia invites applications for the Sally Birch Fellowship in Cancer Control. Aimed at addressing current gaps in cancer control activity, the fellowship is open to applicants across the broad spectrum of cancer control activity, including research, policy and program development.

The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust - Rewarding Australians Striving for Excellence
The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust was established in Australia in 1965 to perpetuate and honour the memory of Churchill by the awarding of Churchill Fellowships to Australian citizens. The Trust exists to support Australians in all fields of endeavour whose expertise has progressed to the point where further investigation overseas would be of significant value in improving their contribution to the Australian community.

PhD Scholarship in Cancer Health Services and Health Economics
EM-Cap is a five year NHMRC funded program bringing together a team of experts within the fields of medicine, epidemiology, health services research and economics. The program aims to: explore the way in which cancer care is delivered in Australia (specifically chemotherapy); determine the factors influencing the cost of cancer care delivery and; develop tools to support evidence-based resource allocation decisions. Exciting opportunities exist for up to two PhD candidates within a number of fields including:
- Medical Oncology
- Pharmacoepidemiology
- Health Economics/Health Services Research
