Executive Officers Network

The Executive Officers' Network (EON) The Executive Officers (EO) Network was formed in 2005.  Membership consists of the senior operations staff of COSA and all the Cancer Cooperative Trial Groups and facilitates open discussion, information sharing and stronger links between the groups generating a range of efficiencies in the management of clinical trials which include:

  • A streamlined approach to adverse event reporting
  • National commentary on the streamlining of ethics processes;
  • Group representation on national taskforces established by the Pharmaceutical Industries Council providing input into initiatives to ensure the continued R&D investment in Australia
  • Facilitation and suppor of the development of new Cooperative Trial Groups (CTGs) through sharing protocol development tools;
  • Further cooperation between the groups in the conduct of national inter-group clinical trials and the provision of expert consultation;
  • Contributions to discussions pertaining to the COSA Umbrella Insurance Scheme;
  • The development of 3 types of template Clinical Trial Research Agreements (CTRAs) for investigator-initiated clinical trials conducted by CTGs. These template Agreements are:
    1. A CTRA between CTGs and participating sites which was developed in consultation with the Victorian Managed Insurance Agency (VMIA) and the NSW Department of Health.  This Agreement is endorsed by VMIA and the Department of Health in NSW and QLD and is currently being used by CTGs
    2. A CTRA between the CTG and participating sites in New Zealand (undergoing review in NZ);
    3. Two CTRAs between the CTG and sites in private hospitals (in development)
